About This Session

Cybersecurity leaders spend years developing technical expertise, understanding risk, and learning how to lead security programs. Yet some of their hardest challenges emerge outside the traditional boundaries of cybersecurity. From Security Leadership to the Organizational Minefield explores the environment in which cybersecurity actually operates-the people, power, politics, psychology, culture, narratives, assumptions, incentives, and biases that shape organizational decisions. It also examines how cybersecurity's own language, frameworks, and assumptions can unintentionally reinforce the silos we struggle to overcome. Drawing on leadership, emotional intelligence, organizational behavior, risk management, and Executive Organizational Navigation (EON), this session explores why knowing the right security answer is often only the beginning-and how stronger judgment, influence, communication, and organizational navigation can improve outcomes. Because executive readiness requires more than cybersecurity expertise. It requires learning to navigate the organization you were hired to protect.
