Alisar Mustafa

Alisar Mustafa is Head of AI Safety at Duco, where she works with technology companies and governments on the technical implementation of AI safety and governance, translating policy commitments into operational practice. Her current research examines how AI safety benchmarks evaluate harm across low-resource languages, and develops methodologies for building stronger multilingual benchmarks on high-risk safety topics for the languages that current evaluation tools, built largely for English, leave behind. She previously co-founded CivicSync and served on Meta's Responsible Innovation team, and advised the US Census Bureau's technology team on responsible AI. She writes the AI Policy Newsletter on policy, safety, and emerging risks. Alisar holds a Master of Science in Public Policy and Management from Carnegie Mellon University and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from San Francisco State University.
